Shop Orting (shoporting.org) is a free community directory of businesses in Orting, Washington. It is run by Rainier IT Solutions, LLC (“we”). This page explains what information the site collects, why, and what you can do about it. Short version: we collect only what we need to run the directory, we never sell it, and there are no ads or ad trackers on this site.
If you just browse
You can use the whole directory without an account, and we don’t ask for any personal information.
- No ad tracking or cookies for visitors. The site sets no cookies for people who are just browsing. We don’t use advertising networks or social media tracking pixels.
- Server logs. Like nearly every website, our servers keep standard logs (IP address, the page requested, date and time, and browser type) to keep the site running and protected from abuse. Failed sign-in attempts are logged so repeat attackers can be blocked automatically. Logs are kept for about two weeks and then deleted.
- Services that load with the page. To show the site, your browser also connects to a few outside services, which will see your IP address: Cloudflare (which delivers and protects the site), Google Fonts (lettering), unpkg.com (map software), and OpenStreetMap and OpenTopoMap (map tiles). Each has its own privacy policy.
If you add or claim a listing
The “Add your business” and “Claim this listing” forms ask for:
- Business details (name, category, address, phone, email, website, social links, hours, description and photos). These are meant to be public: once a person reviews and approves them, they appear on the listing.
- Your name and email address as the person submitting. These are not published. We use them only to review your submission, contact you about it, and, if you’re claiming a listing, set up your owner account.
Submissions are sent to us for review by email and as a notice in our private Discord channel. Photos you upload become part of the listing if approved. Please don’t upload photos that show people who haven’t agreed to it.
If you have an owner account
When a claim is approved, we create an owner account with your name and email so you can sign in and edit your listing. Signing in sets the standard WordPress login cookies, which are needed to keep you signed in. Owners may get occasional emails about their listing and a weekly summary of the business board, with a one-click link to stop the weekly email.
If you post on the business board, the post is public. The contact email and phone you add to a board post are shown only to other signed-in Orting business owners.
Email from Shop Orting, such as listing notices, password links and the owner digest, is sent through Google Workspace. We don’t sell, rent or share email addresses, and we don’t add anyone to marketing lists.
Who we share information with
Nobody, except the service providers that run the site (hosting, Cloudflare, Google Workspace email, and Discord for our internal submission notices) as needed to operate it, or where the law requires it. We never sell personal information.
Your choices
- Ask us to correct or remove your listing, your owner account or anything you submitted.
- Ask what personal information we hold about you.
- Stop the weekly board email at any time using the link at the bottom of it.

Children
Shop Orting is a business directory and isn’t aimed at children. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13.
