🌳 A Friendly Reminder: Tree Trimming & Fall Leaf Cleanup πŸ‚

As we head into fall, the City of Orting is asking residents for a little help keeping our streets clear and allowing City equipment to safely perform routine street sweeping and stormwater maintenance.

🌳 Trim Trees Near the Street

Trees located in planter strips or near the curb should have approximately 10–12 feet of vertical clearance above the roadway. Low-hanging branches can interfere with street sweeping equipment and may cause damage.

If you have a tree with branches extending over the street, please take some time to trim them back to provide adequate clearance. Giving residents the opportunity to maintain their own trees helps avoid the need for City staff to trim branches that interfere with City operations.

πŸ‚ Keep Leaves Out of the Street

As the leaves begin to fall, please remember that leaves from private property should be collected and disposed of by the property owner. Please do not blow or rake leaves into the street for the City street sweeper to collect.

Leaves placed in the roadway can interfere with street sweeping and stormwater systems. If City staff observe leaves being intentionally placed in the street, the property owner may receive a notice requesting that they be removed. Continued placement of leaves in the roadway may result in the leaves being returned to the property.

Thank you for helping us keep Orting’s streets clean, our stormwater system functioning properly, and City equipment operating safely. We appreciate everyone doing their part this fall! 🍁

If you have any questions, please reach out to our Public Works Department at (360) 893-9039.
