On September 10, the state schools office (OSPI) released test results for the 2025–26 school year. Orting School District improved in English and math, and its science results held about steady.

The figures below show the share of Orting students tested who scored at grade level on the state tests (“met standard”), with the state average for comparison:

  • English language arts: 49.6%, up from 46.4% in 2024–25 (state: 52.8%)
  • Math: 36.8%, up from 32.7% (state: 43.1%)
  • Science: 45.6%, compared with 45.9% (state: 51.0%)

About 1,500 Orting students in grades 3–8 and 10 took the English and math tests, and roughly 97% of eligible students took part. Students take the science test only in grades 5, 8 and 11.

OSPI's final enrollment count for 2025–26 shows 2,865 students in the district, about the same as the 2,879 the year before. About 36% of students come from low-income households.
