Great ShakeOut earthquake drill set for Oct. 15

Pierce County is taking part in the Great ShakeOut earthquake drill on Thursday, Oct. 15, the county announced Oct. 6.

The ShakeOut is a yearly practice drill. At the set time, people at home, school or work practice the three steps safety officials recommend in an earthquake: drop to your hands and knees, cover your head and neck under a sturdy table or desk, and hold on until the shaking stops.
