Charter Park pickleball courts closed

The City of Orting announced on Sept. 17 that the pickleball courts at Charter Park are closed. The courts, at the south end of the park (also known as the Skate Park), opened only in late August.

The city's news summary acknowledges how popular the courts have been. The summary does not give the reason or a reopening date; see the full notice on the city website.

The courts are part of a larger plan for Charter Park, 425 Washington Ave. SE. In July the city completed a state environmental review (a SEPA "determination of non-significance," meaning no major environmental harm was expected) for more sports courts there: two more pickleball courts, a tennis court and a basketball court, plus lighting, seating and landscaping.
